Group music classes for big kids start soon!

Meet the Violin or Piano this Spring

INTRODUCE your big kid to an instrument! These group music classes offer older children the chance to begin developing the tools they will need to be successful at learning instruments. Building on what kids have absorbed in Music Together classes, 3 to 6-year-olds explore the basics of an instrument, plus more advanced rhythm and pitch skills through playful activities.

Our goal is to joyfully facilitate the creation of solid musical foundations that could be the stepping stone to private instruction in an instrument so that they can continue on their lifelong musical journey. If you are wondering whether your little one is ready for the next class after Music Together, please read our blog post, reach out to your teacher, or call us at our office to talk. Register below or read on to learn more.

MEET THE VIOLIN

During this 45-minute weekly class for ages 3 to 6, children are introduced to the violin with a playful method of learning that incorporates games, songs, and movement. They learn the parts of the violin and develop some basic skills that lead to a short performance at the end of the semester. The children will craft a box violin the first week of class and use wooden bows, so purchasing a violin is unnecessary. Children must be 3 years old by the first day of classes. Caregivers are expected to be in the classroom with their children to encourage participation and observe their child’s growth and progress.

MEET THE PIANO

Children ages 3-5 explore foundational skills that prepare them to be successful at playing the piano. During this 45-minute weekly class, students will participate in creative movements that help build their technique and finger dexterity, learn basic rhythms, improvise at the piano, learn one to two basic songs, and gain an understanding of keyboard geography. Caregivers are expected to be in the classroom with their children to encourage participation and observe their child’s growth and progress.
