Our essential Mixed Age class is one that a child attends from birth through age 5. Following the recommendations of child development researchers, we foster family-style learning in classes where younger children enjoy watching and imitating the older children who are working on singing in tune and keeping a steady beat. Class includes a range of musical experiences, from playful free-movement to instrumental jam sessions, where each child participates at their own level: singing, moving, listening, watching, or exploring instruments. Songs draw from folk tunes mixed with sounds from around the globe and chants in unusual tonalities and meters.
Music Together Babies Only
A class for newborns through eight months. Song activities are designed to facilitate an active support for infants' musical growth and the creation of a special bond between parent and child through music. This class incorporates activities focused on the needs of infants who are not yet crawling, such as babbling with baby, finger plays, infant massage, large movement and the use of partners and mirrors. Class size is limited to 10 infants.
Music Together: Generations
If you’ve ever wished for an extra set or two of grandparents, then we have a class for you! The Generations music class is a regular Mixed-Age Music Together class with the sweetest twist: the addition of senior participants. Kids and their grownups visit their “Musical Grandfriends” at a local retirement home and spend time making music as a large extended family.
Music Together con Español
This bilingual family class is for Spanish speakers looking for a more accessible way to experience Music Together, as well as for families who want some exposure to the Spanish language through music. Families receive a CD plus digital access to the semester’s songs recorded in a mixture of Spanish and English, as well as the English-language songbook and a booklet with the Spanish lyrics. Everyone will have a great time in this Music Together family class that’s accessible to todo el mundo—everyone—regardless of your level of Spanish-language proficiency!
Immerse your infant to 5-year-old into the Spanish language and its cultures as you sing, dance and play along to the irresistible sounds and rhythms of Latino culture with Ms. Joelle, a native Spanish speaker. Each class is designed based on the recommendations of early childhood music researchers, though your child won't know it as they are moving to the beat and singing in Spanish! A list of songs, their translation and a streaming playlist will be given to the families for music-making at home.
Sing French with Madame Julie
Music is a great tool for learning a new language. This immersion-style class proves it by incorporating vocabulary through French folk songs and other fun musical activities. Madame Julie is a native French-speaker and will introduce children from birth to age 5 to the language in a developmentally appropriate and fun way. No prior knowledge of French is necessary just a willingness to sing and have fun "en français!"
