Mini Musicians

Young children play instruments like triangle and maracas in a group music class,

Mini Musicians (ages 4-6)

A positive, creative, and exploratory first introduction to music for 4-6 year olds in a group setting. The program incorporates piano playing and will provide great preparation for more traditional piano lessons, but is also beneficial for children who will go on to study other instruments too as they will be exploring pitch, patterns, and rhythm. Caregivers are required to stay in class to encourage participation and observe progress.

The aim of the class is to further develop basic tonal and rhythmic competence, meaning matching pitch vocally, and being able to copy basic rhythmic patterns/keep a steady beat while also introducing some piano concepts.

Children at this age are still developing those abilities so we do activities such as singing and movement to varied meters and tonalities to help support this growth. While we're doing this we are also introducing the bare basics of piano such as how to sit at the piano, the black key patterns, white key letter names, exploring improvisation prompts, and tracking from left to right when playing a song (desk bells, boomwhackers, or at the piano). No at-home piano is required, and minimal to no work at home is needed.
